Grand Rapids Chiropractor Explains the Goals of Chiropractic Care

The vast majority of patients who come into our office for the first time are desperate for help with pain management and relief. Although it is one of our primary goals to help patients achieve pain-free living, the goal of chiropractic care actually extends much, much further. Once we have helped a patient with rehabilitation from an injury, that’s just the beginning. We want to help all of our patients go forward to experience optimal health. After relieving the initial pain, Grand Rapids chiropractor Dr. Michael Kwast and his colleagues help their patients further, with strength and conditioning exercises, nutrition and detox, and more.

How Computerized Adjustments Work

From Pain Relief and Injury Rehabilitation to Strength and Conditioning, Nutrition and Detox

The body, as designed by nature, was built to work marvelously. The brain controls everything in the body, sending messages at lightning speed via the nervous system (encased within the spine) telling each part of the body what needs to be done and when. When the spine is properly aligned, these messages travel properly, and everything works well.

Life happens, however. We slouch at our desks. We lift boxes the wrong way. We have car accidents. Here in Grand Rapids, we slip on the ice, or shovel heavy snow. All of these things stress the muscles that support the correct structure of the spine and slowly start to pull the spine out of its natural position. Nerves get pinched. Messages between the brain and other parts of the body go awry. We may still feel fine, but over time, things will continue to worsen until we finally hurt. The symptoms of pain, however, are actually a fairly late sign of disease caused by these spinal misalignment's.

Our chiropractor can determine if someone is in diseased state, whether they need pain relief or not, because we have a series of tests that show us where problems are, even before patients feel them. So optimally, chiropractic care should be considered preventative spinal care, just as regular dental check-ups and daily hygiene habits help people avoid cavities. Naturally, we are passionate about pain management and relief, but we are just as passionate about strength and conditioning exercises, nutrition, massage therapy and detox. We help people recover, but we also to help them avoid pain and experience optimum health in the first place.

Chiropractor Dr. Kwast and his colleagues here in our Grand Rapids chiropractic clinic know that optimum health is a journey. We get to know each patient as an individual and run through several tests to make solid discoveries about a patient’s health. Then we can recommend a course of treatment that will not only stop the pain, but if continued, can verifiably help the patient rise to his or her optimum level of health. Through regular spinal care, nutrition, strength and conditioning, massage therapy and even detox, we help our patients along their journey. Please call us today to find out more.
